“Back to God”
Watch out for the school buses! Back to school sale! Notebooks, backpacks and new shoes are a tell tale sign that school is open. Children head back to the classroom after enjoying a 10 week hiatus of sleeping in late, staying up late, in full time play mode with no homework, tests nor schedules to worry about and no rules! Although school life may seem discomforting and laborious it does encourage responsibility, a work ethic and respect for the rules and regulations. These are qualities to be cherished and held in honor among men. Especially in the Kingdom of God. The prodigal son provides illustration as he learns the value of a Father. He had a good life with his father until he selfishly desired to run from the pressures of commandments, guidelines and managers. Likewise, we too had a good life with God before we chose to run. A life of debauchery and licentiousness must have been to him like a summer vacation! Non- stop fun, squandering his wealth in wanton, decadent pleasure. Then, abruptly, summertime ends. The money runs out. He wakes up in the filth of his own doing and realizes he must go back to his father. For it is there that true satisfaction, physically and emotionally, awaits. If you ever find yourself in the swine pen, all it takes is to return, to go back to your Father, to embrace the God who truly loves and gave Himself for you. Return to the Lord. We may not have been living in such depravity and lasciviousness ourselves, however, living a Godless life results in the same outcome. A God less eternity. Thankfully, the Lord God Almighty, our Maker and Friend, is the God of Grace and Restoration. No matter how far down the road to perdition you have traveled, nor how long you have turned your back on Him who died for your sins, He is waiting with arms open wide for you to come back. Realize the true blessings He offers when you submit to His will, assemble with His saints, partake of the feast with His bride, and share in the joy of His glory.
